Happy Friday everyone! Ever since I returned from maternity leave, I live for Fridays! Working full time an hour away from home makes for really long weeks. God forbid there’s traffic and I get home later than usual (like last night 😑). There’s really not a whole lot of time between the time I get home from work and the time I’d like the twins to be in bed. Somewhere in between all of that I need to feed them, bathe them, eat dinner, shower, wash dishes, prep bottles for the next day, and get in a last pump session. So when Fridays come, I’m burnt out and ready to relax (as I type this sipping my martini).
I also haven’t been feeling quite myself this week. For starters, I feel like my milk supply can’t keep up with these growing babies. I’m so blessed I’ve made it this far (4 months!), but ideally I’d love to make it to a year. But every time I get a text from my husband or babysitter saying, “There’s only one bottle left,” until I get home, I stress, and stress is not good for milk supply! I haven’t been able to add to my freezer stash in ages. My goal this weekend is to hopefully add two pouches to my stash and not have to take any out for the upcoming work week. I also ordered UpSpring Milkflow’s fenugreek and blessed thistle powder berry drink mix based on a friend’s recommendation to help increase my production. My shipment should arrive tomorrow, and I’m not sure how quickly I’ll see results (if any!), but fingers crossed! I will definitely be doing a review.
Then, on top of stressing about breast milk, I’ve been so off my diet! Literally last week I meal prepped salad for lunch at work, but I never ate it. And then this week, I decided to meal prep the same exact thing, and again, I didn’t eat it! Instead I opted for Olga’s, pizza, gyros, Buffalo Wild Wings, and a burger. 😑 I really need to bring my A game for next week though because it’s the last week of my co-workers and my Lose It! challenge. If you’re not familiar with Lose It!, it’s a food diary app just like MyFitnessPal. You can pay for Lose It’s premium membership (sign up for a 1-week free trial using my affiliate link) and take advantage of a ton of features including challenges. The way a challenge works, or at least the one my co-workers and I are participating in, is you get points based on logging your meals, exercising, eating fruits and vegetables, weighing in, and progress points whether you’re looking to lose weight, maintain weight, or gain weight. Currently I’m in second place. My one co-worker is surpassing me in the exercise department; he’s training for a triathlon. The challenge only goes until the end of the month, so I’d really like to put in my best effort to win (the losers have to pay the winner $10). Progress points are a big percentage of points, so if I can weigh in less than what I weighed at the beginning of the month, I’ll feel good about myself.
On a positive note, the girls are starting to grab their toys and hold their bottles! Some of these toys we have are $20 a piece, so we’re happy they’re finally getting some use. And of course the Easter Bunny brought them transition cups, so they’re one step closer to feeding themselves 😉
The moral of this blog post is 1) I’m happy it’s Friday, and 2) I just need some words of encouragement! How’s your diet been going? If you’re breastfeeding, have you tried the berry drink mix from UpSpring?
