10 Rounds Review + Before & After

Six weeks ago I blogged about my post-cruise and early quarantine weight gain. I knew I needed a fresh start, so I decided to buy into Beachbody’s newest boxing program, 10 Rounds. 10 Rounds is a 6-week program consisting of 3 boxing workouts, 2 weightlifting days, and 2 rest days. Ordinarily this program is completely […]

How I Lost 10 Pounds in 2019

This year I feel was my first true year on my postpartum fitness journey. I attributed my 10 lbs weight gain to Hashimotos, but in retrospect I now realize it was a common post-breastfeeding set back. In November 2018 I weighed in at my highest of 148.2 lbs, and one year later I weighed in at my lowest at 134.8 lbs, a 134.8 lbs loss.

80 Day Obsession: Week 1 Results

Last week kicked off Beachbody’s hottest new program, 80 Day Obsession, by super trainer Autumn Calabrese, creator of 21 Day Fix. 80 Day Obsession is a 13-week program focused on glute and core training and portion-controlled timed-nutrition. The moment I read all the details on 80 Day Obsession, I literally became obsessed with wanting to […]

Milestone run for me today! 🏃‍♀️ My first closed-l Milestone run for me today! 🏃‍♀️ My first closed-loop run AROUND THE BLOCK. I live in the country, so my block is not a short distance. When I got into running this summer, I measured via Google Maps the distance around my block… 4.5 miles. And what’d you know, today’s long run called for 4.5 miles! This might not be a big deal to others, but to me it’s always been something to work for. Being that far from home on just my own two feet seemed scary. But I did it!

In addition to today’s milestone, this run also included some new experiences:

🔹 I got to use my new hydration vest (Salomon Active Skin 4). It was nice not to have to hold my water bottle.
🔹 I was encouraged to try fueling mid-run for the first time, so I finally had to opportunity to eat NERD CLUSTERS while running (chewing and running is… different lol)
🔹 I also tried SaltSticks electrolyte tabs at the 30 minute mark. Not sure if I should’ve experimented with the Nerd clusters AND the salt tabs in the same run but 🤷‍♀️

Finished 3.58 miles in 36:49, 10’18” pace. I PR’d my 1 and 2 mile, but got a side stitch at 2.5 miles that slowed me down. I was aiming for a sub 30, but my 5K time came in at 31:53. But, I finished!

This officially commences my 8-week “New to Running” training plan. Next up, a 10K!
