This weekend I completed my third official round of 80 Day Obsession. See my previous blog posts on my first and second rounds. Since its debut back in January 2018, I find it to be the perfect program to kickstart the New Year. 80 Day Obsession is a 13-week program consisting of three phases (four weeks each) and a final Peak Week. Essentially January was my phase one, February phase two, March phase three, and Peak Week into April.
This year I had a 7-night cruise planned for March 1st, so between phases two and three. I don’t travel often, so when I do I throw caution to the wind when it comes my nutrition. Returning from vacation, I weighed in that first night home out of curiosity. Eight pounds heavier. 😳 The following morning was 5 lbs, and eventually I tapered off to a 3 lbs weight gain.
Back on Track, or So I Thought
I returned to work from my cruise on Tuesday, March 10th ready to commence phase three and recommit to my containers. But then… the COVID-19 pandemic hit the US and threw us all for a loop. On Friday, March 13th a US national emergency was declared. That following Thursday, March 19th I started working from home to help flatten the curve. I’ve been self-isolating for three weeks straight with at least three more to go.
This pandemic has certainly brought new challenges in the nutrition department. First there’s the sporadic shortage of certain groceries because everyone and their mother panic bought. Lean proteins and vegetables have been a hit or miss. Second, my husband is now in charge of grocery shopping since he works at a grocery store. Unfortunately not-so-healthy foods happen to make their way into the house when he shops. And since I’m now home 24/7, the temptation and struggle has been real.
I need to practice social distancing from the fridge.
My 80 Day Obsession Results
My final measurements revealed I gained 4.2 lbs and 1 inch. At the end of phase one I was down 0.6 lbs and 1.25 inches, and the end of phase two I maintained. This means I gained 4.6 lbs and 2.25 inches in phase three. 😑
Scale and measurements aside, I at least see some subtle physical changes in my progress photos, which is exactly why they should be taken regularly. This gives me hope that I didn’t completely derail my progress.
Moving forward, I originally planned to do A Little More Obsessed as a fourth phase come Monday; however, last night I sampled Beachbody’s newest boxing prgram, 10 Rounds, and surprisingly loved it enough to buy into its early access (it doesn’t “officially” come out until October). It’s a 6-week program with 3 boxing workouts, 2 weightlifting days, and 2 rest days per week. It’s completely outside my comfort zone, but I’m excited to fully commit. Wish me luck!
Hi Nicole! I, too, have gained a little since the lockdown started. Even though it’s just three pounds, it’s a little discouraging. Good for you for continuing your program!
We can conquer this! Are you making any changes to get back on track?
