Memorial Day weekend is upon us. While I’d usually be looking forward to a 3-day weekend, I’m actually on what will be a 10-day “weekend” due to a stubborn fever I’ve had for five days straight now. I haven’t been able to break a 102° fever all week. Today is the first real day I think I may have actually broke it. I hope now I can use my actual weekend to continue to rest and recover so I can go back to work come Tuesday. I’ve never had to call off work multiple days in a row before. Usually these things are 24 hour bug, and I’m back at work the next day. But five days?! Five?! I know I had some unused paid time off I didn’t know what to do with, but “redeeming” these for a week of being sick was not my wish.
As the month of May comes to an end, honestly this sickness just fits right in with how “healthy” my month really was. Right off the get go Hubby and I ignored our grocery list and went freestyle shopping. Because I hadn’t bothered to do ClickList or stick to a list, and I went shopping hungry, we overspent and bought a ton of junk food. And then of course I had to eat said junk food! Can’t let it go to waste! And so our grocery budget was then limited for the remainder of the month, which didn’t allow me to buy enough healthy items, so I’ve kind of screwed myself out of proper nutrition all month. Excuses? Sure. But after this week’s out-of-the-blue amount of sick days, I realize I need to take a step back and fuel my body with the nutrition it deserves.
Eating well is a form of self-respect.
Usually on extended weekends I aim to accomplish at least one goal. My goal this Memorial weekend is to focus on coming up with a grocery list, meal plans, and workout routines for next month. Next month is our twins’ 6 months photos (they’re 5 months today actually!), and Hubby and I will be in a select few, so I’d like to at least try and look my best.

I hope your health and fitness was better than mine this month. On a happier note, does anyone have any fun Memorial Day weekend plans?
