What’s in my Breast Pump Bag?

What’s in my Breast Pump Bag?

Funny story. The other week I was walking into work with my purse, my breast pump bag, and my laptop bag. Two men were talking in the hall outside my suite, and one male jokingly asked, “Do you have lunch for all of us in that big bag of yours?” Of course he was referring […]

Pumping… Expressing breast milk. However you want to say it. If you breastfeed, pumping comes with the territory. Assuming you use an electric pump, one of the best accessories you can buy is a breast pump bra. Pumping hands-free is definitely the way to go! 🙌 Though when you think of hands-free pumping, you probably […]

How I Increased My Milk Supply by Nearly 10 oz a Day

You may remember me stressing about my milk supply the other week. I’m so blessed I’ve been able to exclusively breastfeed my twins who are now four months old, but being a working mom and pumping at work is the most challenging part of continuing to breastfeed. God forbid I miss a pump session; I […]

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! Ever since I returned from maternity leave, I live for Fridays! Working full time an hour away from home makes for really long weeks. God forbid there’s traffic and I get home later than usual (like last night 😑). There’s really not a whole lot of time between the time I get home from […]

Maple & Brown Sugar Overnight Steel Cut Oats

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. While I managed to get in two great workouts this weekend (I can still barely walk thanks to Friday’s Gluteus MAXout class), I definitely overindulged with Easter dinner. Now that it’s over with though and it’s Monday, I’m ready to get back on track. For this week’s breakfast […]

Blake’s Monster Dash 5k! 👻🏃‍♀️ Well, Blake’s Monster Dash 5k! 👻🏃‍♀️ Well, just shy of 5k. Had it been the full 3.1 miles, I would’ve PR’d. 😒 No medal, but I’ll run for cider ‘n donuts. 🍩 Chip time had me at 28:24 at 9’08” pace, placing me 8th for my age group (132 overall out of 799).
Milestone run for me today! 🏃‍♀️ My first Milestone run for me today! 🏃‍♀️ My first closed-loop run AROUND THE BLOCK. I live in the country, so my block is not a short distance. When I got into running this summer, I measured via Google Maps the distance around my block… 4.5 miles. And what’d you know, today’s long run called for 4.5 miles! This might not be a big deal to others, but to me it’s always been something to work for. Being that far from home on just my own two feet seemed scary. But I did it!

In addition to today’s milestone, this run also included some new experiences:

🔹 I got to use my new hydration vest (Salomon Active Skin 4). It was nice not to have to hold my water bottle.
🔹 I was encouraged to try fueling mid-run for the first time, so I finally had to opportunity to eat NERD CLUSTERS while running (chewing and running is… different lol)
🔹 I also tried SaltSticks electrolyte tabs at the 30 minute mark. Not sure if I should’ve experimented with the Nerd clusters AND the salt tabs in the same run but 🤷‍♀️

Finished 3.58 miles in 36:49, 10’18” pace. I PR’d my 1 and 2 mile, but got a side stitch at 2.5 miles that slowed me down. I was aiming for a sub 30, but my 5K time came in at 31:53. But, I finished!

This officially commences my 8-week “New to Running” training plan. Next up, a 10K!

Another round of #80DayObsession in the books! If Another round of #80DayObsession in the books! If you know me, you’ll know this is my spirit program. I just love what it does for my glutes and core strength. It’s 13 weeks of hour long workouts though, so definitely a commitment.

This round I only did the lift days (4x/week), subbing cardio for the Peloton or more recently running. Since I’m now running 3x a week, I did cut out one of the lower body days in phase 3, alternating between leg and booty day.

All and all, I’m pleased with my results. I’m not sure what I’m doing next for strength training as I’m entering my busy season at work. Might wing it for a bit. Play it by ear. We shall see!

Officially invested in my first pair of running sh Officially invested in my first pair of running shoes! 🏃‍♀️ I’ve been using what I had (ASICS Gel-Venture 8’s) these past 3 weeks as I established a routine. Clearly I’m enjoying running enough that I thought I’d take a drive to @run_detroit for my first pair.

At first I tried Brooks Ghost 17’s vs ASICS NOVABLAST 5’s. I really like the Novablast’s.

But then tried New Balance (couldn’t tell you the model but I did like them) vs the Altra FWD VIA’s. Winner, winner!

Very excited to break these puppies in!

Dare I say it, but I’m really enjoying running! 🏃‍♀️

I ran two 5K’s this week, and I saw a quote that said, “If you can run a 5K, you can run a 10K.” I felt that. Not saying I’m there YET 🤪 but it doesn’t scare me as much anymore.

Running #ToughMudder last weekend inspired me to t Running #ToughMudder last weekend inspired me to take up running. 🏃‍♀️ This past week I’ve been following @runna’s “New to Running” training plan, completing a total of 3 runs and 6 miles. The plan starts off with a 5 minute warmup walk, followed by 1-2 min run / 1-1.5 min walk intervals, and ending with a 5 minute cool down walk. I’ve enjoyed the intervals; before I know it I’m done!

Completed my first #ToughMudder 5K! 🏃‍♀️💪 I haven’t ran an OCR of this caliber in 10 years! I had a blast and would totally do it again.

Favorite obstacles included scaling 8 ft walls, climbing 15 ft ladders and 40 ft nets, and the “Block Ness Monster”. I did NOT like the 34° ice pit. 🥶 And totally skipped the “Electroshock Therapy” finale. ⚡️
